Kira Nerys

I used to catch Deep Space 9 on television on rare occasions; the show aired at a time when I was normally out or busy. But this year I've made some time to watch it properly and I love it! One of the things that make DS9 such a great series to me is the deep and fascinating characters, and Kira Nerys was one of the most complex characters in the Trek. Her story lines were some of the most poignant and beautifully written parts of the series for me. "Duet," "The Darkness and the Light" and "Ties of Blood and Water" are just a few prominent examples. Kira is so emotionally damaged from the Cardassian Occupation on her home, but she still perseveres. She is an incredibly strong, intelligent and non-nonsense soldier. I think she's one of the most badass characters in all of Trek!
I love her story throughout the show and I'm deeply relieved she never had a relationship Dukat as was originally planned. I am so glad Nana Visitor stood against it, because it really would have been awful and out of character for her to do that. Nana Visitor cared about her character and that shows in marvelous way she plays her over the shows seven year run. Kira was such an amazingly strong and passionate character who I love watching onscreen. I also love watching her interactions with the other people on the station, particularly Jadzia and Odo. Kira's friendship with Jadzia was incredibly adorable and warmth and understanding in her relationship with Odo is something I loved deeply.
Nausicaa

All the Ghibli girls are amazing, but I had to list Nausicaa because she's one of my favourite fictional princesses ever! I have so many fond memories of watching this film with my family.
I just want to say that I wish people would of stop calling her a Mary-Sue. ( Not cool tvtropes! :( ) Nausicaa is The Chosen One, but she has to struggle and fight for her ideals. She is an awesome lady who goes through hell during the course of the movie and saves everyone from themselves at the end! I love that she's a sweet and caring person who has an affinity with animals and an understanding of nature and is a very tough fighter at the same time. I just find her so charming and awesome. She's my hero! This made feel very nostalgic. I need to see this movie again, and have more than a passing glance at the manga!
