Title: Through Rainy Weather
Fandom: Princess Tutu
Characters: Ahiru and Rue
Words: 370
As Rue walked through the centre of town, the rain began to fall lightly. Needed a reprieve from the confusion and black-outs she’d recently experienced. And Mytho seemed to being falling more in love with Princess Tutu every time she returned a piece of his heart.
Rue began notice ravens watching her movements from afar. They started to haunt Rue’s dreams as often as they observed her waking moments.
As Rue continued to walk in the rain, she saw Ahiru chatting happily with the lady organ-grinder, while holding out her hands to feel the rain. Ahiru stopped when she noticed Rue and began waving cheerfully. Rue considered turning home and ignoring Ahiru, but the energetic girl scurried to the elder girl’s side.
“Hi Rue! Would you like to walk home together? I mean, I guess you should be going back since it’s starting to rain. “
The organ-grinder serenely bid farewell to Ahiru and walked away, leaving the two alone.
“Shouldn’t you be worried about getting stuck in the rain too?” Rue asked distantly.
“The rain doesn’t really bother me because ….”
“Because?”
“Well, I’m used to it! I liked to practice in the rain; it helps me concentrate.” Ahiru explained while laughing nervously with wild gestures.
Rue glanced sceptically at her, but said nothing. They walked back to Cold Crown Academy quickly as the rain began to pour down heavily.
When they made it back to the academy and found shelter, Ahiru glanced at her companion nervously and began fiddling with the sleeves of her uniform.
“Is there something wrong? “ Rue inquired somewhat coolly.
“It’s just, you look so sad. It seems that you don’t feel like talking much today. I just wanted to let you know that you can talk to me anytime, Rue-chan!”
Rue turned her away, feeling her cheeks redden slightly. She was unused to the audacity and earnestness Ahiru often showed her. Finally, Rue meet Ahiru’s gaze and smiled warmly.
“Thank you, but I think we should get back to our dormitories now; we’re both soaking."
“Yeah, I guess you’re right.” Ahiru agreed with a small giggle.
Rue chuckled softly and turned to leave. Her confusion and doubt subsided, if only for a moment.
