Yeah, I thought the anime avoided the potential skeeve in Mitsuki and Takuto's relationship.
But the manga is just terrible in many ways. Takuto attempts to rape Mitsuki because she wasn't getting over Eichi's death fast enough for him. He is a total prick in the manga. Meroko's backstory is filled with grossness and involves rape.
The manga and anime are two completely different stories. I loved the anime, but the manga is just awful in every way possible.
